Beauty: Let's Talk About Blushes

8:00 AM

Blushes are needed when you wear full coverage foundation, since your face is pretty much a blank canvas after applying your foundation of choice (whether is liquid or powered). You just need some kind of color to basically bring everything back together again, and that is honestly the best way I can describe the uses of blushes (well for me at least). As I started getting better at applying makeup, I noticed more and more the reason behind the blushes.

In the past, I never understand, nor did I feel that someone with my skin tone (a NW 50 on MAC) needed blushes, but I was WRONG. I have now a total of four blushes that I rotate between, and below are the quick review on the how or when I used them.

This color doesn't really show up that well on me my skin, but if you are lighter then a NW 50 on MAC, then this is truly a lovely matted blush.

Uses: Natural Look &  Bold Lips

I LOVE this color on me. When I'm going for the fresh face and natural look, I go for this blush. The slight shimmer gives my cheeks such a healthy glow that I tend to go for this blush a lot. I like to pair this blush with my Viva Glam VI lipstick. This also become my go to blush when I go for the bold lip colors such as Ruby Woo & Flat Out Fabulous

Uses: Natural Look &  Bold Lips

This is another color that is truly pretty on me, and I also tend to wear this one a lot when I want a little glow on the cheeks. This color is very similar to Razin, so if you want to try one, start off with Raizin, since it is a matted blush, and is perfect for a newbie.  The shimmer on this is very subtle, and a little goes a long way.

Uses: Everyday

This is the brightest blush I own, and I don't think I would go past this color, and get something like a red. I tend to wear this color at night or when I'm attending a more glamorous party. It looks super pretty against my skin tone as well.

Uses: Nighttime

This was my first baby from MAC, and I pretty much wore this all the time in the beginning. The matted look of this is my favorite aspect of this brush, especially as a newbie. When I don't want any shimmer on my checks, and just want a bit of color, this is the blush I go for.

Uses: Everyday

In conclusion, blushes can be used the wrong way, as in case of my prom pictures lol, and they can also be used the right way, as in case with all of my current "What I Wore" examples. Find the blush that works for you, and run with it.

NOTE: Every single blush I have here, I have used extensively, and it all depends on my mood, and the look I'm going for when picking either of the above blushes out. For Example, whenever I wear bold lip colors, I will always be neutral with my eyeshadow and blush, became my lip color is the only thing I believe should be getting attention.

Recommendation: If you are my skin tone, I highly recommend all but one, and that is Blunt by MAC, since it hardly noticeable on a NW 50 MAC, and Sweet as Cocoa is the alternative to that neutral look you going for because it has that bit of shimmer, which is needed when going for that brown color blush for dark skin sisters.

  9. Blush is one of those beauty products that really can make a difference. I admit that I'm often too lazy to put it on, but I plan to change that in the future. Thank you for sharing your review. My skin colour changes trough the year, depending on how much exposure to the sun I get, so that is something I always need to keep in mind and often I forget to do that.

    1. Interesting thing is this, ever since I change to a MAC foundation, I have not needed to have a summer and winter foundation. When I get darker, the foundation still matches, the only thing that get even more lighter is my concealer which is fine :D.

  15. Never thought of blushes that way, although for many years it was the only part of make-up I applied to my face, without thinking. Only recently, more exactly when I started to take pictures for the blog, I do the whole thing - and recognize you're right! Never tried MAC, but as I read so many positive reviews now, think I should give it a chance :)

  19. You've the point - blushes can be used in the wrong way and personally I feel that I have to learn how to use it, because the truth is that I haven't used any blushes yet (Yes, I know that it's weird :D), but I want to change it :)

  21. Thanks being a Mac user I know what a Great Review this is!

Have you ever tried NARS? A MUA I know used on me in some shoots and gave me samples, I liked it but their blush runs about $6.00 more than MAC! Not sure if it's worth it or if I'll purchase it. You know how that goes end up with a basket full of unused products o.O

Don't worry about answering you can inbox me later when you're rested! I don't care if it takes you until June or whenever your secondary consultant term expires!

Love you Sis! Take Care and may your Day/Weekend be as Beautiful as you! :)

    1. Hey Cheri...I will send you an email to just in case you don't read this. I'm going to get a NARS blush, I have one on my list to get, just waiting for the price to go down a little or I may purchase it with my additional income now.

Their blushes are pretty expensive and I don't want to buy it and not like it, because the color I want is not available at the stores :(.
