What I Wore: Delicately Edgy
7:53 AMToday is all about comfort as I go "ham" at my company potluck later (notice the loose shirt ^_-). If you haven't checked out the about me section yet, I just wanted to let you know I revamp that page a little by adding more details about me, but for today I wanted to note how much of a tom-boy I was growing up. Imagine me wearing nothing but boys clothing (mostly my brothers) all through high school.
With that thought in mind, I wanted this outfit to represent the new me by adding a hint of edginess as well as some feminine touch here and there. The addition of the blue lace tank, pearls and the blue floral/skull totally nailed the look I was going for.
I don't know about you guys, but sometime I wish I can go back in time and tell my younger self that I was beautiful, and that I didn't need to hide myself just because of one silly comment from a little boy about my hips. That is why I tell my daughter every day that she is beautiful. As Marilyn Monroe once said, “No one ever told me I was pretty when I was a little girl. All little girls should be told they are pretty, even if they aren’t.” ~ Marilyn Monroe

It's very hard to imagine you as a tomboy since I've seen you now in so many feminine outfits and skirts etc. But this is such a great tough chic look that stays feminine with the fit of all the pieces. Have fun at the potluck!

That sweater with skulls and flowers is so cute! The jeans look great on you and the tartan shirt around your waist is a great trend- and you've done well with your intepretation...All in all, a fabulous casual outfit! You look great!
ReplyDeleteSo, tomboy? I was a peculiar tomboy when I was a kid...I would cut my hair short (by myself) and wear tomboy clothes....but they always had to paired with a skirt. I only wore skirts- my mum was horrified because when I was born she naturally dreamed of dressing me in cute little dresses :) That never happened, even as a little girl I had to have my way when it came to getting dresses.

My mom (and friends) was also a little nervous as well about my tom boy ways. Their concerns though was lay to rest after my daughter ^_-.
DeleteYou were a tom-boy too? I was one for sure.. My parents forcefully kept my hair so short almost identical with real boys around me. I guess our feminine grow more naturally after adulthood, as a consequence of being so deprived of it while growing up.
ReplyDeleteI love this look of you: casual, chic, edgy and feminine.
