Triumph Crisis Recovery Center - 1st Annual 5K Run/Walk
5:02 PM
It took me a while to decide which 5K to run, since they are so many of them. Most of them donate to one charity or another, but I always questions the "how much" they actually donate. A lot of the fun ones for example "The Color Run" or "Neon Vibe" doesn't contribute a large amount (percentage) to the charities they sponsor. So I decided to do the Triumph Crisis Recovery Center 5k Run, as my first one, because it is being thrown directly by them (the charity), and I know women that have been through domestic violence once in their life, and I wanted to show support by doing this for them.
I have been training for months, but I was still pretty nervous about doing a complete a 5K run (not walk). I spent days reading on what to do, and what not to do, in order to not to look like a complete newbie ^_^. In the end, I did complete it, and it was so EXCITING!! I still can't believe I completed a 5K run and got third place in my age group! So amazed!!!! Below are the pictures of the event.
I only had my phone, so the qualities of the pictures are not that great. I woke up at 4:30am and arrived at the park at 5:45 am. Picked up my package, and just walk around trying not to lose my cool lol.
I end up watching the sun rise, since the race didn't start until 7:00 am. Can you say my nerves were pretty shot by now -_-. The park did have some amazing view though, so that did calm me a little.
I prayed we didn't have to run those hills, because I did not train on inclines or anything like that. The course did have some minor incline, which slowed my pace at time, but I keep steady and push.
My 3 miles mark was hit at 29.44 min and I finished at 30.50 min at 3.14 miles. I was hoping for a 35 min run, but I beat that by 5 min!!! What a amazing experience!!!!!

WOW! That's fantastic! You placed on your very 1st 5k you'll be in first place in no time! Great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks!!!! I'm stilled in shock lol. Pretty sore and I'm surprise about that, since I have been training for this for months. I guess I never trained on a fast pace like that.
DeleteI am so proud of you! That is so great that you placed in her first run. I think it's exciting to hear about others who are involved in 5Ks. When my husband and I did our first two last year, we didn't know anybody. But since then, we have discovered that quite a few of our friends have been doing them for years. It's always fun to get involved with friends. Thanks for sharing your success!
