My Third Years Anniversary is Today
10:13 AM
My sisterlocks got more even and that all I can say about that. I achieve one of my goals from last year, and that is healthy growing locks. I still have stickies, and my sisterlocks are not completely shoulder length yet. Next year for sure I get my shoulder length locks *determined face*.
Year 3
This is 3rd year photo. My sisterlocks appears to still be in the SHOOTING PHASE or Adult Stage still. Not much to brag about as far as growth is concern.Year 2
I decided to just compare from last year, and as you can see, my locks just grew more evenly, and it currently not at the shoulder length I was hoping for (unstretch).
Year 3
The back has grown more evenly as well. Look more thicker then last year for sure. The back right now bend constantly and just pokes my neck.
Year 2
I see a lot more fizzyness in this pictures vs this year for sure.
Unhealthy Thinning Hair
My hair went through some major thinning years ago, and this is the before picture of one of the area. I took Biotin, and Jamaican Castor Oil & Other EO to combat this. You can find the recipe for hair growth here.
Healthy Hair Once Again
Thin area is getting ticker and healthier again at year 3. My grid is looking better every time I go for a new retighten so I assume my consultant is trying to maintain it as much as possible. Love her!
Looser Hair At The Back
This took close to three years to lock. This is a before pictures of the back of my head. I had so much issue with the back of my hair with it constant unraveling and slippages.
Finally LOCKING
The back of my hair at year 3. It is finally locking.. hooray. Less slippages and unraveling means less time in the chair. All smile over here.
Straight Parts (Grid)
Grid pattern & part are still intact after 3 years. The square are more apparent when I just had a retighten done.
My product line still hasn't change. I still
use my homemade moisturizing spray, which I need to use once every two week (during the summer months I hardly need it) , or
after I wash my hair.

Yeah! Congrats on your 3rd anniversary! Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I esp. enjoy reading your blog bc I am almost your loc twin. My anniversary was on the 9th. Keep on enjoying this journey. Many blessings!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment and following me through the years. Happy Loc Anniversay ^_^
ReplyDeleteHi Kreyola! Congratulations on year Three! On a separate note, I am scheduled for my very first retighening session. I am so worried about some of my "fat buds" feeding through my roots with the tool. I hoping that my strands do not break pulling the ends through. I am going to talk to my consultant about my concerns before she starts. Also, it is now four weeks from my initial installation, and I have way less scalp showing, and I am liking it more. I am scared that I am going to feel "scalped" again with this first retightening. I honestly feel more scared about the retighening than I did with the initial installation. Any words of encouragement to calm my nerves? Maybe I should have the buds on my tips cut off? I think some of my locks are probably matured within the first four weeks. Some really feel airtight. Okay, thanks in advance for your words of wisdom.

ReplyDelete>> I don't have a lot of fat ends, but the 2 of them that I see does seem to go through the roots without any issue, none of them show any sign of thinning or breakages.
I am going to talk to my consultant about my concerns before she starts.
>> Please do ask your consulant, and please share your information on this post. Would love to do a complete post about it.

>> The retighten process is much more a breeze then the installation process. You are speeding a whole lot less time in the chair, and that is a HUGE plus. You honestly don't need to worry and just enjoy having someone work on your hair. I recommend getting a book and relax. Ask question if needed and just chit chat with your consultant. Take the time to really get close to your consultant since you guys will be working together for while.
FYI Do not cut the buds since that helps speed up the locking process.
Hi Kreyola! I will definitely check in with you on next week to update you on my first retightening session. I have been trying to analyze some of the extremely fat buds, and I think it is coming from the relaxed portion of my strands. I think that I may try to loosen the fat buds. According to my recent SisterLocks training, the instructor says not to lock the relaxed ends because they are not going to mature properly. My SL consultant gave me a choice. I will definitely keep you posted on what worked or did not work. I do believe that I have gotten some slippage in the ends where relaxed hair is still attached.
ReplyDeleteI really appericate and look forward to your feedback/update on that big bud matter.
ReplyDeleteHi Kreyola: I talked to my SisterLock consultant by phone today to prepare for the first retightening session on tomorrow. She did say that the relaxed hair will "bubble" up. She suggested wetting the relaxed ends and working them out of the fat knots. I think that I let a few get to far gone to undo so I think that we will be cutting some of them. I told her that I still wanted to keep my length, but I do not want to damage my new growth trying to save my length. So we will cut what needs to go. I think that I have about 10 Sisterlocks that give me some concern. 10 does not sound like a lot, but when they are coming from the same general area - the front - it can be un-nerving. If I learn something else new, then I will update everyone as well. I wished that she would have told me to be on the lookout for these knots before now. It is only right before re-tightening that those things really caught my attention. The fat buds are not easily seen because I have been keeping my SisterLocks as curly as possible. When my curls started to drop significantly, another story unfolded.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you had perm ends. Normally consultant will not try to do lock the perm end. Now it all makes sense. I didn't have any perm end, so I wouldn't be able to give you any sound advice at that end. Thanks for sharing this information. I'm sure it will help someone out in the future.
ReplyDeleteHey! My consultant only had to cut one sisterlock. She was able to pierce through the rest and straighten them out. I wrote a blog article with two pictures of two of my sisterlocks with relaxed ends. Let me know if you want the blog site. I try to be respectful of other bloggers unless it is political topics when you want to support statements with references. By the way, I agree that I preferred not to have paid extra to lock my relaxed ends, but I did not know. So I will have to stay positive, it will be alright!
ReplyDeleteHey! What the name of your blog? Please share so I can visit and be a follower :). Thanks for the additional feedback about the perms end.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your third anniversary. I just celebrated my 3rd anniversary on December 6, 2012. It is really amazing to see how our hair has grown over the years. Thankfully, I didn't have many of the usually problems when I started out. I spoke with my loctician regularly and followed her advice to braid and band in the beginning. I liked the wavy wash and go style. Now it takes much longer to wash and air dry but I am still enjoying the freedom of having Sisterlocks. I cut off all my relaxed ends after 12 months. My major challenge was that I don't cover my hair at nights, and so I had a lot of lint in my hair. Solution, I coloured it all black. Looking forward to sharing the journey. Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments. I hope you are now covering your locks. Now I feel complete naked without my satin bonnet. Wish you the best and a happy new year :).
