Should I or Shouldn't I? Getting rid of the thin locks
6:07 PMI'm debating if I should just cut them off, where it's thin, or leave it as it is. If I do cut it, I will save them, and sew them back on. The sewing back on, will no doubt happen when my locks (in that area) gets a little longer. I will do a "How To" on that as well. Below are the locks in questions. Feedback is always welcome.

Today is my birthday =). Another year of blessing has come and gone. I also decided to go out tomorrow and celebrate, and I'm trying to decided if I want to do a Mohawk, but I'm afraid of the stress that I would put on my roots. I will post pictures if I do.

Hi Kreyola,
ReplyDeleteI LUV reading your blog. I have a question...how did you fix these locks? I have three SL's that look like this. I go for my next re-ti next week. Thanks so much.
@M Thanks for the comment I really appreciate it. I didn't fix those thin locks, for the most part, they either broke off or I end up cutting them. Now I have a couple of very short locks in the middle of my head (I call them my stickies, since they stick out, due to the shortness of them). Ask your consultant if she can repair them (not by merging but maybe by knotting them).
ReplyDeletehey Kreyola.. I DIY and I messed a lock by by tangling with neighbouring locks and pulling to undo.. it thinned and eventually snapped off. I just cut off the thin part in the middle and combined it with the growth using needle & thread. Do you have a technique or how to? mine looks fine but "feels" funny..I'm afraid it won't merge properly with the growth..pls advise
ReplyDelete@Gerryloc All what you mention is what I would have done myself. Right now I'm waiting for my lock to gain a little more length to reattach. What did you use as a tread? I plan on using 100 percent afro human hair to reattach the locks. I suggest waiting it out to see if it will merge (knowing our hair type) most like it will merge. As long as it doesn't look odd, I'm sure the lock will be just fine.
ReplyDeleteHey, I have one like that at on the front edge of my hair. I know it is probably due to me going so long in between retightenings. I have one scheduled this week and I'm anxious to see all the work that is going to have to be done to restore it back to health. I wonder what she will say aobut mines...
ReplyDeleteMy consultant for some reason never tried to fix those. Eventually they did break off and I have a bunch of stickiest from where I suffer from the thinning. I would love for someone to come up with a solution. But I foresee me fusing these locks together with a sewing needle when my locks are long enough to see clearly.
